Lucky Pineapple

2016 01 01 archive

Someone very important to me challenged me to write an entry about pineapples. While I thought that was odd request, I accepted the challenge anyway. Here it goes…

Pineapples remind me of summer. You know, those warm summer nights under the stars while floating in the pool? I need that to happen right now. Pineapples remind me of everything satisfyingly happy. It’s sweet, but it’s sour when it wants to be. Summer & pineapples… This just made me want to fast forward to that season already.

I’m over winter.

2016 01 01 archive  Besides buying vegetables on Fridays, I sometimes stop by the floral section to see if there’s anything that catches my eye. I get flowers at least twice a month just because they look so freaking pretty. There’s just something about looking at them at times when I’m under pressure and feel grounded. They’re a reminder that despite the chaotic mess I’m in, there’s beauty underneath the discord.

Is that just me?

I took these photos yesterday, and I have to say that my favorite part was making my shaggy dogs pose for me. I know that they definitely need the trimming, but it’s winter! So, I figured… One more month? I usually groom them myself because I find it pretty fun. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been tempted to shave them down. Yeah, I definitely need to groom them next month.

One of the presents I got for Christmas was this peach matcha green tea from Teavana. The packaging was too pretty to not try it. I’m usually not a fan of green tea, but I have to admit that this one broke my record-long of despising such tea. It’s a definitely worth trying. I couldn’t help but continue sipping on it until it was all gone!

Today, I’m going to have a relaxing Sunday as in read a book, make plans to break plans, catch up on shows, and cook! What do YOU usually do on Sundays?

Behind the photos: Last week, I mentioned how the story behind the photos are so much better. Well, this week… I had to keep my dogs out of my way because they kept bugging the **** out of me! Notice Kobi on the bed. Oh, and clumsy me almost fell out of bed trying to take photos at different angles. I also dreaded cleaning up the mess I made right after.

The Usual Sunday Vibes

I do the groceries every Friday after work. I either stock up on salmon, chicken or ground turkey as meat for the week with a variation of vegetables. Don’t get me wrong– my lifestyle isn’t necessarily healthy, but I do put an effort. Among the vegetables that I get are zucchini and mushrooms. You’d think that I’d get tired of them by now, but I’m not! I would feel so wrong to go home without those in my shopping bags.

This is a peek of my main dish for the week. Honestly, I wish I had chosen salmon, but I had that last week, so I was afraid that I’d get tired of it.

Lately, I’ve also been thinking about shifting back to vegetarianism, but I feel like I’d miss out on all  the good food. So much for self-control, right? I was actually a vegetarian for two years back when my grandma used to be around. It was easy to follow such practices because she was the one that mostly cooked my food.

I’m a bit happy with how these photos turned out because I creatively tapped out today. But you should all have seen my kitchen this morning when I cooked this. It was a MESS! I also almost cut my finger when I dropped a knife while washing the dishes (stories behind the photos are more interesting, right?!). I think it should be noted, that I’m the clumsiest person alive. Some people can attest to this. Seriously.

I hope you that you’re all having a wonderful Sunday and a week ahead! xoxo!

This Selfish Heart of Mine

2016 01 01 archive
I’m constantly reminded by my friends and family that in order for me to love someone else, I have to be able to love myself first. To this day, I can’t seem to wrap my head around this particular advice. Nevertheless, I decided to make this year all about me. My only New Year’s Resolution is to ultimately be selfish.

Of course this process will take part by giving up five of these things that I believe is detrimental to my character:

1. Doubting myself
2. Negative thinking
3. Fear of failure
4. Negative self-talk
5. People pleasing

2015 has slammed me with a whole lot of unexpected twists and turns. Some bittersweet, others tragic, and many events that’s been… Interesting. I have a feeling that this year is going to be one of my most difficult years yet, but I know that I’m strong enough to battle my demons.
