I don’t have children of my own for selfish reasons, but I do have two dogs. My three-year old is Haru, and the two-year old is Kobi. I don’t think they realize how important they are to me because without them, I wouldn’t feel so grounded. They fill-in the void of emptiness in the room with their playful demeanor.

It was a Sunday afternoon when we took these photos. It was an overcast day which was normally lovely, but that day was a bit off. Perhaps the blistering cold weather had something to do with it? When I took these photos, I kept telling Haru to stay still. Normally, she would look at the camera but since she was outside, she seemed absolutely distracted. Dogs will be dogs.

BTW, who else is sad that the holidays are over? We are too </3

Lights and Thoughts

Can you all tell that this is my FAVORITE time of the year? I probably said that at least 100 times this month, but I swear that it never ever gets old.

I was playing with my camera after my “photoshoot” of the macarons. I swear there’s just so much to learn about cameras that I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve always been fond of Chrismas lights and how well people capture them. So I thought about giving it a try. I thought I did alright. What’d you guys think?

BTW, two more days until Christmas!

I’ve been wanting a DSRL for five years, but I’ve never gotten around to buying one until now. This year, I really kept an eye out for a good one to pop-up on Black Friday, so when the perfect one went on sale, I didn’t hesitate on buying it. It’s been two weeks since I received it in the mail, and I still have yet to try it out– until now.

I’ve been heavily relying on my iPhone since I first started this blog, and there where a few (actually a lot) limitations that I’ve encountered. So I thought that it’s time for an upgrade. I do have to admit that the shift from one to the other was a bit enthralling. HAH! Did I even use that word correctly?

Regardless, I’m super excited about Christmas coming up! I can’t believe that it’s only 5 more days! I can’t wait to hand out presents already. That’s the only thing that I can’t wait for!

Oh! Before I go, I actually didn’t make those macarons. I’ve finally accepted that I’m not too good at baking them. I was actually in my kitchen making a batch for this blog, but FAILED so bad. Macarons has been my toughest projects. To be honest, this particular dessert has really tested my skills in the kitchen.

They’re fairly expensive for their price which is usually $1.25+ a pop. But I really don’t mind paying the price for them if they were really macarons. If poorly executed, macarons can have different variations. And that’s what irks me in MANY bakeries all around town! They charge a $1.25+ for poorly made macarons because people would still buy them.

A quick run down on what macarons: They have an eggshell-like crust. Which means that they are smooth on the surface with no crumby exterior. If they did look crumby, it’s because the baker decided to be lazy and not remove the chunks from the almond flour. A definitely cardinal sin for all macarons in the world. It should also have a “foot“, and meringue filling.

‘Nough about macarons! I’m hoping that you’re all having a fantastic week! xx

If you’ve been following my Instagram, you’d know that I’ve been going a little overboard on Christmas stuff. Okay, not overboard but you know what I mean. Besides my birthday, this is actually my FAVORITE time of the year. I was actually so excited about it that I set up the Christmas tree the day before Thanksgiving. Now, I just have to put presents under the tree!

Which part of the holidays is your favorite?

Mine is cookies and hot cocoa in bed!
