Celebrate Your Individuality

2015 10 01 archive
I’m going to shy away from posting entries like these as I don’t see it fitting this blog, but I was just taken aback from who I was a few weeks ago. I don’t even have the words to tell you how much of a mess I was. I was inflicted with so much self-doubt, that I sought to my sister, Lorraine, for help. She gave me so much words of encouragement yet I continued to hold this barrier that was so difficult to destroy. I allowed myself to be engulfed by self-doubt to the point that my self-esteem was stripped away from me. Lorraine told me that I’m beautiful, but when I stared at the mirror, I saw nothing close to who she described. I’m fine now, but I just wanted to share this part of me that was vulnerable so that if I could touch at least one reader who felt the same way, I wanted to tell her/him that they are beautiful. Don’t ever let anyone (including yourself) tell you, that you are are anything less than perfect.

Always celebrate your individuality.

Yelp + Pumpkins

2015 10 01 archive

The other day, I went grocery shopping, and found these pretty things there. The flowers were actually $6, but I decided not to get them because I didn’t have time to arrange them at home as I was drained! I love the maiz and little pumpkin! I should’ve bought them, but it would have been an impulse buy for me, and I’ve been straining myself from doing as such.

I hope that you’re all having a lovely week! I’ve been so busy with work and school that I hardly find time for anything else. I really wish that the two didn’t take so much of my time. Oh, but I’ve also been so caught up Yelp. As in, I’ve been so active on it that I became a 2015 Elite Yelper which means that I get to attend exclusive parties hosted by local restaurants and events. I’ve actually gotten an invitation the other day for one restaurant here at an upscale neighborhood, but I decided to decline the RSVP due to conflicting schedule. Anyway, being an Elite is a nice little accomplishment in my field 😀

Let’s Go Place We’ve Never Seen Before

2015 10 01 archive
I’ve never been to Lake Las Vegas before, but last Monday I saw it fitting since I was feeling adventurous. It’s a forty minute drive from my place which was not bad at all. This place was gorgeous, but almost deserted. I’m not too sure if it gets busy on the weekends, but it almost felt lonely being there. I guess it was because I was looking for an adventure not a place to sit and unwind? Yes, maybe that’s it.

I saw it fitting to wear this watch for my adventure for the day. I love the color, size and fit of it. I swear, I think this is my go-to watch now, and it is SUPER affordable. I can’t tell you all how happy I was when I received this little gift as I’m a fan of artsy looking watches. I think I just fell in love.

The weather in my hometown has been great. In the morning, we have somewhat of an overcast, and the whole day is more like a mix of heat and cool air. So for such a weird weather I decided to go with shorts and a pullover. I went super comfortable yesterday because my day was just full of advetures. I hope you are all having a great week. Today, I’m embarking on a brand new chapter of my life, and I’m all kinds of anxious. Change is good, right?! Have a wonderful day ;]

A Brief Introduction About The Blogger

Hello, I’m Abby. A few days ago, I turned in my resignation letter from a company that while most would describe as horrendous, I called a blessing. I didn’t think I would last that long in such a business, but the fact that I did only shows that I’m strong minded. Starting next week, I’m starting a whole new chapter in my life, and let me tell you, I’m all shades of nervous. But, change is good.

Moving on, yesterday was just a gorgeous day. We’re not always blessed by an overcast, but I was lucky enough to see it all. There’s nothing more awesome than waking up to a not so sunny window side. You have no idea how much I’ve detested summer mornings with the sun greeting me with the most annoying heat wave. Granted that we do have the ac unit on at all times, it still bothers me that it’s hot on the other side of that wall.

I don’t think I’ve ever introduced you all to my two dogs. The small one is named Haru. She’s a yorkie mix with the tricks up her sleeves. No really, she’s really smart. And then there is Kobi who was adopt exactly one year ago. He’s the sticks to me like cling wrap, but I appreciate his lovable company. I don’t have to point out who’s who, right?

This post is a mess. The sole purpose of this entry was to write about this infinity scarf, but I got all kinds of discrated! I wore this for the first time yesterday in celebration of the overcast. I got this at Target last month for only $3. I swear. I just love finding bargained deals as I’m really practical with my income.

Lastly, I apprecite all your comments and visits! I know I’m a little behind on all the replies, but I promise that I’ll catch up to them. I love all of your support! Thank you!

xoxo,
Abby

The Thriftiest Alternative to Gel Nails!

2015 10 01 archive
I know a lot of girls who squanders their money on manicures and pedicures. When I say squander, I mean $60 a session for nails that will last two weeks. Why they costs so much? I’ll probably never know because I’ve never gotten my nails done before. I’m a believer that if your manicurist, can do it, you can probably do it too. But that’s just me. When I don’t paint my own nails, I like to use these little press on nails and fool people that I got them down. I swear, I get the most compliments when I have them on. This particular product that I’m using is waterproof which is good news for us thrifty girls because this normally lasts for about one week until the adhesive starts to wear off. It comes with 24 nails so you can use a whole new set for another time! So… since that’s two weeks worth, I think it’s worth the $5.99 instead of $60.

Don’t you think?

As always, each item in this list is $50 or less. I just love everything that’s affordable, don’t you? In this collection, my favorite will definitely be the top! It’s great for days when you want to dress “down” but still look pretty at the same time. As for me, I can really see myself taking photos of pretty things around the city with this outfit.

What will you be wearing for comfort?

Dresses That Won’t Break Your Bank!

I’ve heard so many stories about after-wedding nightmares. You know, those stories about couples taking loans in order to fulfill the wedding of their dreams, but when the celebration is all over, the bride and groom have entered the reality of debt. Hey, through sickness and in health, and through rich or poor, right?

As you all know, I’m quite practical when it comes to the subject of, well… Anything. You know those bridesmaid dresses that supposedly costs $200-something that should only cost well $70 somewhere else? Yeah, you catch my drift here? Well, I put together a comparison of dresses from overpriced dresses to reasonable.

2015 10 01 archive
I still can’t wrap my head around this. I can’t believe how simple these dresses are, and they run from $150-$250. I’ve seen so many alternative dresses that look just like them, and are the same quality, and in some cases, better. While, I’m not condemning anyone who likes to buy dresses with these price tags, might I just ask… Why?

2015 10 01 archive
This is the alternative to #5. I just love how stunning this dress and it’s not just something you wear at a wedding, but also a night out with some cocktails.

This sweet grape colored dress is perfect for the evening out. It’s easy on the eyes, and it very subtle, but quite vivacious. This lovely dress is a $70 alternative to the second dress priced $209.

I saved these last two for last because they are my favorite. These two dresses are the alternative to #1 and #4 respectively. I’m in love with the hint of blue in both dresses, and you can dress them up for a girls night out. Of course, I much prefer paying $70 for each one instead of $150 or $250. Wouldn’t you?

You guessed it. This one is my favorite out of all my picks. This is the alternative to #3 which costs $250! I’m in love with one strap dresses because it brings compliment to the whole look.
